Wrinkle in Time, A (2003)

"A Wrinkle in Time" is a movie which was originally intended to be aired as a 4 hour miniseries. Reducing it to a 3 hour movie wasn't a good idea IMO. I think it would have made more sense to present the series in 8 half hour lots.

The production is reasonable but the direction is plodding and the acting is mediocre. The actor who plays 'The Happy Medium' was utterly hopeless. David Dorfman as the gifted Charles is, by far, the best actor in the movie.

Based on the classic young readers scifi-fantasy book which is often mandatory reading in schools. The movie is a great disappointment. The book has all the elements necessary to inspire a great film in the class of Harry Potter, but it fails.

The producers must have had "The Never Ending Story" on their brains but the end result is ultimately boring.

On IMDb David Dorfman is inexplicably listed in 'rest of the cast', as if he has a minor role
in the movie.  He and Katie Stuart (who plays Meg) are the main actors.

Verdict: Worth watching for David Dorfman, however, I wouldn't bother to watch it again.

My apologies for the relatively low quality caps...  the movie was on free to air TV and my reception is not the best.

Thanks for the evaluation of it, Cal.  I'd watch it just for David Dorfman, too.  Smiley

Love,
Sir J

Hosenhaus,

I know it played in the Toronto Children's Film Fest this past spring. I think it's supposed to air in the US on ABC as a miniseries, but it has been delayed a few times...

I lied...  I decided to watch this movie again because it's now on Pay TV and my reception is much clearer...
