Do those players actually play movies on CD and DVD without being converted...

The crappy stand alone DVD player that sits ontop my TV doesn't play anything except properly converted files or regular DVDs.

Also does your's play .mpg and .avi files?

both my DVD players play .mpgs (yes I have 2 of the beastys sat under me telly)

and the new one plays avi's on any DVD or CD format.

and my first one I got plays any format of media (cd's or DVD's) too

they will even play rewriteables Cheesy
