If anyone like myself hasn't seen this film in a long while, or hasn't seen it at all, the DVD is well worth a look.  It is much more powerful and heartbreaking than I remember from first viewing years ago, on TV.
This scene hit me very hard emotionally. (maybe 'tis the season). The caps only suggest the quality of the scene itself, and the fine acting. But it is not a happy moment.

The boy, struggling to find a place for himself on the streets of a strange city has made one close adult friend who is, in this scene, suffering the agonies of drug withdrawal.

Powerful film indeed...  I must watch it again when I get the chance. It's been some years since last viewing.
