Hergé’s Adventures of TINTIN

A YOUNG VIC PRODUCTION

Direction RUFUS NORRIS, Adaptation DAVID GREIG & RUFUS NORRIS, Set IAN MCNEILL, Costumes JOAN WADGE, Lighting RICK FISHER, Sound PAUL ARDITTI

Criminal gangs, a friend lost in a plane crash and a trek through the snows of the high Himalayas... Just an ordinary day in the lives of young reporter Tintin and his loyal dog Snowy.

The Young Vic is delighted to present the first major UK adaptation of Hergé’s legendary cartoon hero, as Tintin and Captain Haddock battle to rescue Chang from the infamous Yeti.

Directed by Rufus Norris and adapted by David Greig and Rufus Norris, Tintin is the Young Vic’s second Christmas show at the Barbican during Walkabout.

The Young Vic has achieved a reputation for producing the most inventive and enjoyable shows for Christmas, from Grimm Tales a decade ago, to Monkey!, Skellig and last year’s Barbican hit Sleeping Beauty. Tintin is the Young Vic’s second Christmas show on Walkabout, during the redevelopment of their home in Waterloo.

Rufus Norris, director of last year’s Sleeping Beauty at the Barbican, has won 2 Evening Standard Awards: Best Newcomer 2002 for Afore Night Come at the Young Vic and Best Director 2005 for Festen at the Almeida. Designer Ian MacNeil worked with Rufus on both Afore Night Come and Festen, and has just designed Billy Elliot - The Musical in the West End.

Gosh I remember Tintin even in this part of the world. I hope they don't intend to use a 77 year old to play the role.  Smiley

I hope so to.

But if anyone's not familiar with this character, you should know he's not exactly a boy. I don't think they ever specify how old he is, but he must be in his early twenties.
