I notice that the YouTube thread has disappeared. Here's one of my favorites featuring Highmore and Depp:

Thanks ...  lovely interview.  Johnny seemed so relaxed with Freddie...  they make a lovely couple. And kudos to Rove McManus who is one of the few interviewers that doesn't annoy me by asking totally idiotic questions.

Very nice interview! They do seem to have a high regard for each other.

And I'm jealous.

Hey Cal, maybe you can explain this one to me since you're familiar with Rove McManus:

Oh they are just reminiscing. Kaboodle was a kids show back in the 80's. They had different stories with different actors in each episode.  I wish they'd repeat it....  there were quite a number of episodes worth recording. I taped a few but my 20 year old tapes seem to have deteriorated too much to risk damaging my VCR.

So, McManus and Kaboodle are both products of Austrailia? Many clips of McManus show up on YouTube and he seems to be a better than average interviewer. He doesn't show up in the BoyActors database and he didn't show up at Moviekids and so I take it that he didn't do a lot of acting in his youth. Was Kaboodle something like "You Can't Do That On Television"?

Yes, Rove McManus is a very popular TV personality in Australia. He has a prime time TV show that is probably a bit like the old Johnny Carson Show... interviews, jokes, skits, bands, etc.

I didn't even know he'd done acting as a kid. Appearing in one episode of Kaboodle may have been his only acting at that age. Kaboodle itself was not like YCDTOTV, it was more of an anthology series of different stories every episode. The stories were quirky and offbeat and always featured kids as the main characters.

I've been looking for information on Kaboodle since it was mentioned here. It's not on IMDb and there's hardly any other info on it online. I'm intrigued.

The ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission)  is a Government owned national free to air channel in Australia. They have shown a lot of kids shows over the years and have a list of many of those shows. Kaboodle is still listed. Synopsis included:

That vacuum cleaner kid is adorable. Who knows in what direction a boy's fancies will take him? I have to find a boy who likes to collect old VCRs and broken TVs.  Grin

Boy, I'm WAY behind on this thread. Those River Phoenix clips are nothing less than precious.  I recently passed on at least 3 opportunities to see 'Seven Brides...' on TCM and that must be worth at least 30 demerits.

The Michael Junior clip is awesome. That boy's talent is pure gold.

There are several clips from the musical 'Billy Elliot' on YouTube that are very easy to find. I can remember growling when I first heard of this musical, "Grr, why can't they just leave well enough alone?" I spent weeks grumbling to myself about all the fuss about it on different forums. I have since watched several clips and now would give much to be able to see that show! Liam Mower must have been enchanting in the part, but all the boys gave heart-filling performances.  'Electricity!' *sigh*

"Contempt prior to investigation will keep a man in everlasting ignorance."  Sad

Perhaps this has been talked about on the forum before.

The worst acting by children ever to be filmed..... yet still worth a look !
