It's quite good. Bill does a good job as always and Tim Roth is particularly good as the rather creepy (at first) titular fantasy creature.   8/10

Actually, guys, there's another new Bill Milner film out, which looks two classes better than this Skellig TV production.

Is Anybody There?, featuring Michael Caine and Bill Milner, looks like an absolute winner.

Set in 1980s seaside England, this is the story of Edward, an unusual ten year old boy growing up in an old people's home run by his parents. Whilst his mother struggles to keep the family business afloat, and his father copes with the onset of mid-life crisis, Edward is busy tape-recording the elderly residents to try and discover what happens when they die. Increasingly obsessed with ghosts and the afterlife, Edward's is a rather lonely existence until he meets Clarence, the latest recruit to the home, a retired magician with a liberating streak of anarchy. Is There Anybody There? tells the surprising, touching story of this odd couple - a boy and an old man - facing life together, with Edward learning to live in the moment and Clarence coming to terms with the past."

Many thanks for that alert, Andreas! Can't wait to see it. What inspired pairing - Bill Milner and Michael Caine.

Was anyone else thinking of a younger Freddie Highmore when viewing that clip?

I don't think either of those movies are going to be as good as Son of Rambow was, but I'll definitely seek them out. Bill Milner has become my new favourite current boy actor on the strength of that performance alone, so I'm looking forward to see him in these other films.

Funny you should mention Freddie Highmore, YA. I don't think they look alike, but they have a similar quality that I can't quite put my finger on. Freddie was probably my previous favourite boy actor, so obviously whatever it is that they have in common is something that appeals to me.

Well, "Is Anybody There" is out now... and has been. I've seen at least the first 2/3s of it (turns out my copy had a bad / mismatched final part... ironically from "Back to the Future").

I'll be re-acquiring this film and making some caps.  Bill is as adorable as ever, imho.

Anybody else seen it?

Yup... that thar might be why!   Wink Cheesy Grin

This movie was very touching, and Bill did as fine a job as ever.  I wouldn't say this movie is a mood-lifter, since it deals with death and loss, but it's very well done and as I said, Bill is as phenomenal as ever.

I gave this movie 8 /10, based on the quality of the two actors (Michael Caine and Bill Milner), and the fact that I happen to like movies which investigate such bonds as these.

PS.  My sole rating on the movie page is feeling very lonely.
