May I say this is a most excellent idea of yours, josephk. It has been very interesting scrolling down these boy actors all dressed in their Sunday best, as it were.
Many of the boys I have never heard of before but it was only right to begin with the great but sadly, tragic, Bobby Driscoll. I reckon Mark Lester looked good in that Boys Brigade pillbox hat! I just know there will be some pics of the boy actors from the 30s and 40s, like Freddie Bartholomew, dressed in shirt and tie. Sorry, I don't have the equipment to post pictures. Sad
Thanks, anyway, for posting all these great pics.

PS Whatever happened to Connor Paolo? With dark hair like that he can't be the same attractive blondie who played the young 'Alexander'! I bet there is a pic somewhere of Joseph Cross in 'Wide Awake'. Wink

Glad you're enjoying the thread, Cinefan.

I'm pretty sure that Connor Paolo's hair is naturally dark. You can tell that the blond is fake on pictures like this one, where you see the roots starting to show the natural colour:

Personally, I think he looks rather silly with that hair. It doesn't match his eyes or his eyebrows. His natural colour suits him much better.

I know he's considered some kind of boy god based on his appearance in Alexander, but I never really felt he was that good looking. He just looks kind of average to me.

(If this forum had any life left in it, I'd probably get lynched for saying that. Good thing hardly anybody reads this anymore. Haha.)

OH MY GAWD!! You've found him! You've found James Mahon! He starred in a short film which had me laughing like anything. I see Mahon is not listed under actors so I couldn't find the title of the film. I used to have it on video, now sadly lost, where he plays this meek kid from a dotty family. He's always falling foul of the other boys. I know he meets this girl who is his female equivalent and he finally gets the boys interested in making model aeroplanes. It was a comedy classic but one of these obscure shorts Channel 4 liked to show. Anyone know its title and whether it is available on DVD?
Who is Nick Hagelin? WOW!
You just couldn't miss out Roddy McDowall whose film career spanned decades.
A great and interesting series. Smiley

The short film that James Mahon played in is called 35 Aside. It's an Irish film from 1994, 1995 or 1996, depending on the sources. Glad this solved a mystery for you. Smiley

Here's more:

Tim McCallum

That's the last batch from the folder of material I'd originally set aside for posting in this thread. I may dig around for more later. Hopefully someone else can keep this thread alive in the meantime.

Interesting collection of photos, joseph. I suspect it will make me more focused the next time I see a young actor all dressed up.
