Very intrigueing!
Before suggesting the photograph, I went through the original text and I was convinced that Georgie fit perfectly.
This new information asks for new investigation. My first impression: we may have to look for the correct picture for the actor playing Joe Harper.
I could be wrong though.
Let us all try to establish who is who.
Allow me to express this thought: I am not a historician, never will be one, but I am delighted to be given this chance.

It is way past my bedtime, but I couldn't resist making a start at least.
Here are a few pictures from the Adventures of Tom Sawyer 1938.
I stopped after 25 minutes. I am too tired now. Tomorrow I may find the energy to continue my search.
I did not attach any names nor did I give away any clues.
But please help me finding the truth.
Here are the actors:

Mystery solved.
I don't know why Mickey (originally Milton) Rentschler's picture was replaced, but I am convinced that this was a mistake. I noticed that it has already been repaired.
In the process I made a few more screenshots. They might come in handy.
Especially in the case of Philip Hurlic. These headshots could be useful.

Now wait a second...
One more time I jumped to conclusions too fast.
These pictures have not been removed in error and no correction has ever been necessary.
The only thing I can say right now, that the parts of Joe Harper and Ben Rogers may have been played by one person, using different names. Pseudonyms are a rarity. There are a few in film industry, but back in 1938? I doubt it very much. Yet, I keep an open mind.
Can anyone come up with a better theory?

I don't have the film so I can't say for sure, but it would appear Georgie Billings was misidentified.

He is definitely not the same person as Mickey Rentschler.

Moviekids thinks this is Georgie

This sort of looks like the kid in the bottom picture of the first series you posted Benjamin. If that is the case, we can amend both profiles easily enough.

Thanks Bohemian for bringing this to our attention.

Now that is beginning to make sense. Indeed, the teacher addressed this boy as Ben. So there we have one vital clue.

The cause of this misunderstanding lies in 1938. The scriptwriters have switched the Harper and Rogers characters. In the original Twain story it is Ben Rogers who trades half an apple for the right to have a turn at whitewashing the fence.

Also my thanks to Bohemian.
