Note:  this is just my opinion    Huh

I really enjoyed this movie!

A lot of people didn't like the movie, which is understandable.

Why?

Well, it was a train wreck.  Let me say first of all that Mario Yedidia as 'Ryan Jeffers' was excellent in the film!
But you know how you just can't look away during a train wreck.  There's something mesmerizing about it.
And what a spectacular train wreck this was!

Why do I say that?

Well for starters, the dialog and the story were right on the nose.  RIGHT ON THE NOSE!

Secondly, the acting (not Mario Yedidia) but the other cast members was so over the top, it was unbelievable.
Not unbelievable in the sense that you didn't believe the story but in the sense that it is unbelievable that no one
on the set said anything, like: "The actors are going way over the top!"
You would think someone would have said something.  It was almost like Mario was in a different movie.
His character was so 'in the moment and real' and the other characters around him were off into space somewhere.
Except for Rickey D'Shon Collins as 'Chucky' who was one of the only down to earth characters.

Thirdly, there were so many unnecessary scenes, like at the beginning in Ming's restaurant.
That looked great Ming's cooking skills on display, but really didn't add anything to the plot.

And then there were the continuity problems.  I won't mention all of them so as to shorten this review.

Even with all the problems, I still loved Mario Yedidia's performance.  He was absolutely great!
Wish he would have been in more films.

Mario Yedidia was nominated for 'Young Artist Award -- Best Performance in a Feature Film - Leading Young Actor'
at the Young Artist Awards 1998.  And the film was nominated 'Best Film -- International Fantasy Film Award' at Fantasporto 1998.

Beautifully photographed by cinematographer Peter Pau on Kodak film with fantastic Panavision anamorphic lenses for theatrical release (DVD is 1.33:1)
