Sorry abount the lack of advance warning, but I just noticed that Turner Classic Movies is going to do a Jackie Cooper salute since his birthday is September 15th.

All of the films in bold have never been released on video. I have seen all of these films except one and would particularly recommend O'Shaugnessy's Boy and Dinky, but none of them are horrible. By 1938, Jackie has lost his boyish good looks, but White Banners is still an excellent movie. Gallant Sons boy star is actually Gene Reynolds.

Also of interest on the 16th, TCM will be showing Little Lord Fauntleroy (1936) at 11:00am and Goodbye Mr. Chips (1939) at 2:30pm.

There's also a potential curiosity piece for us oldtimers. Does anyone remember the TV show Arnie?
Its star, Herschel Bernardi appears in a movie called Green Fields (1937) made when he was 14. I can't honestly picture what a 14 year old Arnie would look like, I may tape this to find out. It airs at 1:00am on the 18th.

I caught your alert in time, Zab, but I fell asleep and forgot to tape.   Another family member watched and enjoyed 3 or 4 of them - an irony I might report on some other time.

Oh, thanks for the heads up on 'Green Fields'.  I do plan to catch that one!
