I seen in school last year film with name Sciuscia.  In english it same as Shoeshine.  It got two boys in most of film they are mabey 11 and 14 year old.

I think movie from Italy.  I like film but forgot to put on top best films list and I dont see Sciuscia film on nobody list neither.

Do anybody else see this film ?

I haven't watched it for many many years so I'm unsure what rating to give it. I do have it on DVD, which has been waiting to be watched along with about 100 other movies. I've got it out ready to look at so I'll prolly watch it over the weekend.

I've also got the first series of My Dad's the Prime Minister to watch this weekend...

..and somehow I've got to squeeze in the Cricket...  I want more hours in the day!!!

I'm the one person who admits to seeing it in our database. It was a while back and I remember it being a generally good movie (although I liked I Bambini ci guardano [The Children are Watching Us] more. From what I remember, I also can't envision any secondary school in the US ever showing that movie to students, ever.

I think Zabladowski right about no school ever show movie to students.  I seen movie in school from library.  It got lots of movies in library but almost all on vhs not dvd.  I dont like vhs no more bcause dvd is better and got better picture and dont got to rewind none.

I look for "Sciuscia" film on imdb and I seen it got same director that a movie I seen last year on TCM channel.  It's very good film called "It Started In Naples" and got boy Marietto.  I think he mabey 9 year old in film.

I also seen same director Vittorio De Sica got film on some members top 150 film list called "Bicycle Thief".  I dont seen this movie yet.

I like "Sciuscia" but I like "It Started In Naples" much more.

This movie is scheduled to be released in DVD form in the US sometime in the second half of this year. There is no set time so far.

"Shoeshine" had been in Region 1 DVD release briefly about a year ago, then was suddenly withdrawn from circulation.  I don't know if any explanation was ever given.  I've seen it and made a few caps from the VHS and will probably buy the DVD when it returns.  It's a good movie, although somewhat dated, a definite precurser to the classic, "Bicycle Thief."

I have it on DVD. The picture quality is not great but considering it's an old movie it's not too bad. At least it is far better than the old library VHS tape I saw.

If you enjoy watching movies like Bicycle Thief, you should enjoy this film too.

Yeah, I first watched it on the grainy vhs tape from library.

On my trip to Beijing, I found it in a DVD store.  Since then, I have not seen it on sale anywhere else.
