Thanks for the extra pics..  haven't seen those ones before  Smiley

I did find the following piece of info some time ago:

_________________________________________

And here's the complete story of the Boy cover.
There is an interview around the time of the Joshua Tree tour where Bono talks about this. The boy was a kid who lived across the street in front of Bono's house in Dublin. Quote: "He was a smart guy, know-it-all, he's probably taller than me now."
The name of the boy is Peter Rowan. Peter Rowan is the brother of Derek "Guggi" Rowan, and Strongman - both of which were in the Virgin Prunes. Peter later became skate-board champion of Ireland, works in a skate-board shop and has also had various acting parts, notably in 'The Commitments" and "The Snapper".
Bono declared that the picture of the child on the cover was a very important image. It was taken by a photographer named Hugo McGuinness and the eventual sleeve was designed by Steve Averill, a friend of Adam's who was in the graphic design business at the time. (Steve would go on to work on many more U2 album covers). It signified the beginning of something new for the band, while also symbolising the childlike innocence and trust that U2 seemed to display.
Unfortunately the cover photo had to be changed to a band picture for the American market, where it was feared that some would interpret the image as a symbol of paedophilia. They had "a vague worry that there might be a homosexual impression left from the boy's waist-up nakedness." So, Warner in the USA decided to change the cover of Boy for fear of paedophilia claims.
Despite this, some unaltered copies entered the US on import, and led to U2 finding a largely gay audience in the beginning. The original cover was eventually restored.

Jessie was replaced on AMC by a much older actor, and DreamStreet, as we knew it, is gone.  Big legal battle, and everyone lost.   Sad

I hadn't heard that about DreamStreet. What happened? Do you have a link to a story about it?

Love,

Go to:

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Click on "PRESS RELEASE"

That is the official website, you can see "their" side of the court battle there.  The story from the "moms" is toally different, tales of child abuse, sexual acts, drinking, ect.  Don't really know which side is telling the truth, but "DreamStreet"  management won in court. Jess is no longer a part of it, only one original boy (Chris, I believe) stayed on the side of management. All of the other boys will be replaced before "DS" goes on tour.  I doubt that any tour will ever happen.

After the court decision came down, one of the boys made this statement "The moms ruined it for us".    Very sad.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE SUPREME COURT OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK
DENIES THE APPLICATION OF JESSE McCARTNEY, FRANK
GALASSO, GREG RAPOSO AND MATT BALLINGER FOR THE
COURT TO "REVOKE" ITS PRIOR CONSENT OF THE PRODUCTIONAGREEMENT BETWEEN THE PERFORMERS OF DREAM STREET AND THE CREATORS OF THE GROUP

How sad to lose such talent.  I wonder how much truth there was to the abuse and sex and drinking?

The court did not even address that part of the suit....they only upheld the contracts signed by the boys, and "their management"  (the boy's mothers), and gave total ownership of the name "Dream Street", songs, music, concept, ect. to the owners, nothing to the boys.  The boys may not appear together to perform, can't sing any of "their" songs, can't use the DS name, ect. ect.

"The Moms" tried to introduce the fact that the owners of DS, do, indeed, run an internet porn site, but that was totally apart from the singing group.  The moms allege photos were taken while the boys were changing, drinks were served several times, and also made charges sexual situations occured.  There is no way to tell for sure what actually happened, if anything. It would be my guess that the moms smelled money, and thought they could force DS to pay more to their sons.  The books showed that DS was hardly making anything, after expenses. The porn site is doing quite well.

Notice to Child Stars:  Parents usually do not make good agents, get the real thing.

His name is Robert Mead, and was apparently living next door to the band's artist, which was why he ended up as model Smiley
