Alex Pettyfer as Tom Brown on UKTV

One of the most important functions of BoyActors (and Stephen's B.O.Y.S) is to recognise and highlight important boy contributions to movie experiences.  Actually, what they look like is secondary, it's the effect their performance has on us that is my (and, I feel, BoyActors) overriding reason for watching them.  So, watching Alex Pettyfer on UKTV on New Year's Day was a revelation in that here was a boy who was effortlessly beautiful but also a convincing, terrific actor who made you feel the anger and integrity (think about it:  not very easy to portray ) of the character he was playing while also swooning at the beauty he emanated.  What a great start to 2005 and may there be more boy performances to rival Alex's !

Wow. Sounds like a good performance!

Hope I get a chance to see it one day.

Happy new year to everyone, by the way.

Yep, he was very good. It was a good production overall as well - the other lads & Stephen Fry were cool Smiley
Also, Joe Beattie, who was in The Browning Version, was pleasantly sadistic as Flashman.

love,

I have yet to see any versions of this story.

I think my first new year's resolution should be to change that.  Smiley

I'd love to see this version, del bosque, and your descriptions make me feel almost as if I had seen it.

The last Tom Brown's Schooldays that I remember admiring was, I think, a Masterpiece Theater version - in the late 70's?? I remember an almost endless parade of breathtaking boys. (with 70's haircuts  Smiley)

The UK TV channel here often runs those sort of  series.  I've recently seen the repeats of the Daniel Radcliffe David Copperfield and the Jamie Bell Nicholas Nickleby series. Currently they are running another version of David Copperfield which dates back to the mid 80's starring David Dexter as young David. It's a mini series of 10 x 30 minute episodes.

I feel confident that Tom Brown's Schooldays will show up. I'll certainly be looking out for it. I'm pleased to see it's finally been remade...  it's only taken 50+ years since the last version.

I'd like to see it.

What on earth is all the extra clutter that IMBd have started adding to their URLs...

Here's the same link and it still works when I trim off all the floatsam

All the clutter you noticed in the url is due to their new search feature, which allows you to browse from one search result to the next, without hitting the back button and going back to the search results.

For example. Search for Oliver Twist. You get a total of 23 search results. Click on the first one. Now notice that underneath the search box you have something that says "Result: 1 of 23". Underneath this, you have five icons: back, stop, forward, list and help. Use them to navigate through the search results. When you've found the one you were looking for, use the stop icon to get the profile URL without all the extra stuff at the end.

It's a pretty neat feature, but a bit annoying for what it does to the URL.

Thumbs Up: Joseph. I too wondered where all that graffiti came from.  I wanted to use a few words to represent the URL but couldn't remember how to do it.  ???

A picture or two sometimes helps:

Quite a lot of caps are available on the B.O.Y.S. Forum... go there for more (& larger size caps).
